Why should I attend?

The defined benefit pension transfer market has undergone considerable change in the last few years, and it feels like the market has been chasing its tail off the back of pension freedoms. Now the regulatory changes seem to have settled, we’ll use this workshop as a chance to look at the defined benefit market, look at the context that prompted the changes, exactly what the changes were and how to effectively continue to provide quality advice in this area.

We’ll cover:

  • Triage.
  • Abridged.
  • Non-contingent charging.
  • KYC.
  • Attitude to transfer risk.
  • Cashflow.
  • APTA & TVC.
  • Suitability report one-page summaries.

During this half-day session, we’ll look at best practices and how your files need to look from both a client and a compliance perspective.

We’ll also be joined by Royal London, who will host a session on Pension Transfers, specifically gathering information for pension transfer advice. Learning outcomes include:

  • What the regulator’s expectation is regarding information gathering for pension transfers.
  • The guidance points on information gathering in the DBAAT instruction manual and FG21/3.
  • How to describe examples of good and poor practice relating to information gathering contained in FG21/3.
