BUILD: Protection

Our BUILD: Protection sessions are designed to help you meet a chunk of your IDD requirement, by bringing you the latest trends, and a range of themes within the world of protection, to ensure you are genuinely gaining some insight and development, and not just ticking that CPD box.

A range of speakers will help you view protection and insurance planning in a new light and, who knows, may even get you excited to embrace the IDD requirements…

In this session, Christian will explore what we see as being the key components to have successful (and compliant, of course) protection advice, looking specifically at:

  • The fact-finding process
  • How do you tailor your advice to individual needs (consumer duty) v’s order-taking?
  • Disclosure necessities.
  • How to structure a suitability report and document your advice.

Protection policies for Estate Planning – Legal and General

With inheritance tax (IHT) receipts totalling £5.4 billion in 2021, are you considering how your client’s protection cover is meeting their future estate planning requirements? It has been said in the past that IHT is a voluntary tax and whilst this isn’t strictly true it is possible to have plans in place to meet the need to pay the tax in the future.

Nicky Shorey and Stuart Halliwell from L&G will consider situations where IHT may arise, understand how various reliefs and exemptions could be applied when calculating a client’s overall IHT liability and understand where protection policies could be used to meet the payment of an IHT liability.
