What we got up to…

In short, lots! Lots of content, creative thinking, chatting and fun. Evolution was designed to be a meeting of minds for those genuinely invested in improving – or should we say, evolving – financial services. We listened to expert thought leaders, we networked with others with the same drive, we celebrated best practice at The Verve Awards and we even got creative and wrote on table cloths! If you didn’t get chance to join us for our first summit, don’t worry, there’s always next year…

We launched an app…

Yep you heard it, at Evolution we announced the launch of our new app. Here you can join in the con-verve-sation (geddit?) and network with peers from across the financial services industry, sharing knowledge and best practice. We’re a friendly bunch so don’t be shy to ask questions or start a conversation of your own. We’re talking all things tech, running a business, regulations and much more! Download our app on the App Store or use the web version today, and keep an eye out for our Android version coming very soon.

We ended the day on a high, celebrating and toasting the success of those doing excellent work to progress and evolve financial services.

Some key highlights…

Keith Richards focussed on building a profession during his session, highlighting the hurdles and opportunities for us as a profession – specifically exploring what we need to start doing more of, and what we need to do less of to move us from an industry into a respected profession. Yasmina Siadatan focussed on attracting external new talent – how we can address the ever-increasing advice gap and creating take-away pledges on what we each can do differently.

A dedicated space covering areas of the industry that are most in need of innovation. Showcases included back office systems and client portals, research, platforms and training. As we rely more and more on technology to support and empower our businesses, each stand prompted delegates to explore the good and not-so-good of what they currently doing. There was a stand dedicated to blue sky thinking – what does the ideal solution look like to you?

Paul Grimes looked at society as a whole and what that means for financial services as demographics change. Latest Dragon in BBC’s den, Steven Bartlett, inspired the room in a fireside chat with our very own Cathi Harrison. He passionately told his own story of entrepreneurship, what it takes to disrupt an established system and why he no desire to meet with a financial planner. Oh, and his thoughts on whether a hotdog is a sandwich. It’s a thinker.

We’re currently hard at work reviewing and digesting all outputs from the day – the ideas generation in the interactive sessions right through to the questions that were asked of the main stage speakers. They provide great insight as to where we are as an industry and inspire thought for where, collectively, we’re heading. The whitepaper will be free and available to everyone. Pre-register your copy by getting in touch today and be one of the first to get your hands on it when it becomes available.
