Last year we introduced our first ever not-for-profit initiative – a funded level 4 CII qualification and training programme called ‘We Are Change’ for those whose career has been disrupted during the Covid crisis. Since then, things have picked up the pace as they always do here at The Verve Group…

The motivation for the initiative was two-fold, both of which were underpinned by our values and company mission – to change the face of finance; both within the industry and outside it. With so many people’s employment affected by the pandemic – being placed on furlough or worse still, the complete collapse of a number of sectors (hospitality and retail to name just two) – we felt it was an opportunity to do our bit to help others and build capacity across finance at the same time.

With the initiative launched, applications came flooding in immediately (in excess of 400 in the first two weeks) and some generous pledges of financial support from individuals and business who recognise their role in being part of the solution (although, unfortunately, nowhere near the same volume!). In order to mobilise the initiative, we created The Verve Foundation, our latest addition and (dare we say it out loud?!) most cherished brand across the whole group to support all our not-for-profit initiatives.

We always intended on creating a charitable arm within the group, but like everything in business in 2020/21, our business plans were accelerated and our goal of creating our own foundation was brought forward to support those most in need.

Our company values are; world-class quality, bold innovation and a ‘got-your-back’ team ethic and our charitable activities are no different. We Are Change will deliver quality education to the masses, is a programme model that’s not yet been seen in financial services and engages the hearts and minds of those most in need of a brighter career future.

With The Verve Foundation now established, it means our team fundraising challenges, like our recent ‘Miles for Smiles’ step challenge, is given a new purpose, knowing that all we do, internal and external to finance, is making a difference to growing our industry into a profession.
