A positive attitude and being unafraid of hard work are the other two essential qualities for a career with us! If that’s you, then keep reading…

Vital Stats

  • Location: Nationwide
  • Company: The Art of Finance
  • Department: Operations
  • Salary: Dependent on location and experience
  • Basis: Full time (part time also considered for the right candidate)

About the Role

Despite being less than a year old as a company, we’re growing at pace as the demand for a different and creative solution to training in financial services grows too. We recently launched our online training courses which focus on the practical skills that are needed to train an individual with little or no experience of financial services and use to succeed in their role.

Previously (pre-lockdown), our courses were split into two streams – the practical skills training and secondly, the qualification support for the role (typically CII Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning) and were designed for classroom delivery. Since Covid-19, we’ve introduced our online courses meaning that students can continue to invest in their own development during lockdown. They’ve proved to be incredibly popular and with many more ideas for new courses up our sleeves, we’re looking for a knowledgeable financial professional to bring those ideas to life!

So, we’re looking for someone who has been in those same shoes – who knows financial services, has their own personal experience of sitting the CII R0 exams (they’re probably wearing an I heart Calculators slogan tee) and also has the energy and charisma to make learning the world of finance interactive, fun and relevant.

Our head office is located in Co Durham but our current (classroom-based) candidates are located all around the country so we’re to open to applicants from all over the UK. That said, we’d hope as a minimum that they can attend the northern office twice a month and must be prepared to travel to wherever the courses are taking place.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Creation of informative course content – both practical skills modules and exam study sessions (CII R0 exams) – with the ability to turn financial jargon into something that’s engaging and relatable.
  • Personable course delivery – both via Zoom and physically in the classroom (post-lockdown)
  • The ability to transfer their knowledge and experience into a series of study resources and useful take-away material.
  • Regularly sit all R0 exams to get a deep understanding of themes and trends as well as keeping knowledge relevant and up to date.
  • Answer course candidates technical related queries.
  • Attend events for CPD purposes.

About You

Ideally, you’d have at least three years’ experience in financial services and hold the CII Diploma in Regulated Planning – any higher qualifications would certainly be an advantage!

In addition, our perfect candidate would…

  • Have forensic depth of knowledge of financial services and knowledge of CII exam structure.
  • Have bags of charisma and energy which is infectious among candidates!
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the passion to support others in their study.
  • Be able to bring initiative and fresh ideas to the role and the company.
  • Be a skilled and confident learning and development facilitator who has a natural astuteness to read a room of diverse candidate, understand different learning styles and the ability to manage a classroom. That said, we believe we can train those skills in the right candidate so will train those who need it.
  • Strong brand awareness, and fully embody the company values.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to their own ongoing learning and development.

We also work alongside colleges / higher education institutes to engage students in understanding their career options and consider The Art of Finance as a professional alternative to university so someone who’d be willing to share their experience with the next generation will be a huge draw!

Above all else, we love someone with a positive attitude, who likes a challenge and isn’t afraid to roll their sleeves up and get on with the job – it’s part of the fun of being a start-up right?!
