About the Role

As we said, we’re a growing group of businesses and with that comes excitement of identifying, and creating, new roles that are needed across the group in order to make our (pretty impressive!) ambitions a reality – this role is no exception.

Up until recently, we always outsourced the design and build of our large digital projects – such as websites and our bespoke software tech – but as our aspirations, goals and wish list get longer, we are now looking to bring those skills in-house. We currently have a team of in-house developers who are responsible for the build and development of our all software, plus a marketing department who is fully versed when it comes to the more traditional graphic design but we believe that a Digital Designer, one with a keen interest (and preferably some experience!) in user design, will be our next key appointment.

Working predominantly with the marketing team, day to day you will be responsible for creating the look and feel across all digital touch-points (including the likes of website, software, photography, display ads, email and social) and work closely with our developers to bring your concepts to life. We also envisage you working with our client engagement team from time to time too, providing them your insight on user experience to increase conversion rates if and where it’s needed.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Designing all front-end platforms across The Verve Group – including all websites (currently WordPress and Captivate) and our bespoke software in Para-Sols and Apricity.
  • Generating WordPress themes and plugins as and where needed.
  • Thorough understanding and ability to map the user journey, bringing creative solutions to each digital touchpoint.
  • Work within established brand guidelines to create visual, modern and eye-catching digital design which reinforces our brand positioning.
  • Work with the marketing department to establish campaigns which encourage user testing to gain insight and shape future development.
  • Ideas generation – bringing to life new improvements for our systems, meaning we stay ahead of the game and are considered the industry benchmark by our competitors
  • Generally, be our go-to guru for all things digital design from apps to emails!

About You

This is a massively exciting opportunity for a middleweight digital designer, or a junior digital designer looking to take the jump up, to work for an ambitious group of businesses who are breaking the mould and proving financial services isn’t a dull or stale industry to work in. You will get to work with the development department as well as the marketing team on really big projects as well as smaller ones – from established websites right through to scoping and shaping brand new software solutions. And everything in between…

  • Experience in creating responsive and user interface design.
  • Experience of using software to develop designs
  • Competent knowledge of Front-End technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • The ability to self-manage, keeping track of different projects to meet deadlines.
  • Teamworking and collaboration skills
  • Enthusiastic, ambitious and someone who loves to be part of something new and different.
  • The ability to stay focused under pressure – we’re not joking when we say it gets busy!

  • Experience with A/B testing methodology
  • Preferably, you’d have experience in a similar role, or a Graphic Designer with a selection of digital projects in your portfolio, however we know experience isn’t everything and so we’d welcome applications from talented and hungry grads looking for their big break too!
  • Experience with using HubSpot
  • Experience of managing multiple projects

Above all we love someone with a positive attitude who likes a challenge and isn’t afraid to roll their sleeves up and get on with the job!  Each individual has a learning budget, and we would encourage you to spend this on additional training and courses to further upskill your abilities.
