Vital Stats

  • Location: Darlington
  • Company: Verve Group
  • Department: Marketing
  • Salary: £25k - £30k (depending on experience)
  • Basis: Full time - Permanent
  • Deadline: 15th March 2020

About the Role

Relevant marketing experience in financial services would be the ultimate ‘cherry-on-top’, but by no means, is it essential. What is important is someone who understands the principles of marketing and is able to apply them in our companies. So as long as you are naturally creative and have your finger on the pulse of modern marketing, especially in terms of what attracts different audience demographics – we’re confident we could show you the ropes for anything financial services specific. That said, you must be tenacious and a fast learner to take it all in as we’re a fast-paced office and relish those who roll their sleeves up and show initiative!

You must be pro-active, incredibly organised, take ownership and have a big-picture approach to everything you do. You must also truly understand the importance of innovation as you’ll be expected to come up with your own ideas to help us market ourselves and engage our client bases. All in all, the perfect candidate is a strategic thinker who is comfortable with delivering on, and solely responsible for, the operations of any given project or event.

Technically speaking, we’re looking for an individual who has strong event experience, who will be able to work across a very varied events programme, from initial planning through to on-site delivery. These include a growing list of events, from client CPD workshops, our annual conference and awards and internal staff events (with lots more to be added!)

On the content creation side of our events, we are looking for a candidate who can skilfully carry out market research to understand relevant themes and topics within the industry, write commercially viable programmes, produce marketing content, and source and secure industry speakers and partners – and all with a smile on their face!

Of course, we also will be looking for the usual like…

  • Super-hero level organisational skills.
  • An expert eye for detail – we’re talking spotting rogue full spots / different fonts from a mile off!
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to produce creative written content for a range of platforms.
  • Solid knowledge of all Microsoft office packages.
  • Experience of using technology such as WordPress, Canva and MailChimp (or at the very least, be confident in using intuitive online software).
  • Be the ultimate team player.
  • The ability to stay focused under pressure and take responsibility – we’re not joking when we say it gets busy!

Experience wise, you should be able to tell us about…

  • a degree in Marketing or Events Management (or relevant) would be advantageous.
  • a wide range of business events and projects you’ve personally designed and managed; and
  • your 4 years (minimum) of marketing and event history.

Above all, we love someone with a positive attitude who likes a challenge and isn’t afraid to roll their sleeves up and get on with the job!
