You probably heard about our recent amazing news – our CEO, Cathi Harrison has been shortlisted for the brand new Pivot (insert Friends meme here) Entrepreneur of the Year category at the 2020 Great British Entrepreneur Awards for the North East region!

On the introduction of this category, Founder of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, Francesca James, said “so many entrepreneurs will have been fighting to keep their business afloat over the past few months, and indeed will be over the coming months. That’s exactly why we launched the Pivot category; to recognise those that have managed to adapt and thrive throughout this period.”

When it came to this year’s award nominations, this category really spoke to us after all the dedication, innovation, and hard work that went into our #Project2030 launch back in June. As our leader, Cathi really embodied the spirit of adapting and overcoming challenges by not settling to accept the fate of a global lockdown, but making it her personal mission to use this time to scan the horizon, be flexible and drive rapid innovation throughout the entire group.

In true entrepreneur style, #Project2030 was a plan that accelerated enhancements that were already in the pipeline for us. The context of the pandemic and its pressures meant that we reviewed these plans, fast-tracked those that had sudden importance, and began to anticipate other changes in financial services. The results of this ranged from creating our brand new virtual paraplanning service and new interactive report styles within Para-Sols, to moving our Apricity events calendar and all of our The Art of Finance training courses all online – amongst a whole lot more!

We’re really looking forward to attending the awards next month and we wish all the other finalists the best of luck!
