Tenet Impact Support

This post will hopefully be of some use for those impacted by Tenet going into administration this week, but can also act as a resource for anyone looking for a new role, a new network or a new compliance provider.

In all instances, we have no affiliation or incentive with any of the firms mentioned. However, we would also direct firms to our Adviser Incubator, where we can provide support for moving networks, or going directly authorised, at no cost. This is part of The Verve Foundation, a not-for-profit designed solely to support advice firms.

Employed roles

If you are now looking for a new job in financial services, the following are some good quality, industry specialist recruiters we suggest speaking to:

Networks

If you were an AR of the Tenet network and are looking for a new home, we have detailed some of the main ones below for you to consider. In addition, here are some considerations when selecting your next network:

Some options:

(note: many of our Adviser Incubator people have chosen one of the above networks citing their flexibility as the key driver)

Compliance providers

We’re not going to list out compliance providers – you can find them from Google or The Woven Market Map and it is of course a service we offer. Instead, here are some key considerations when selecting your next outsourced compliance support:

  1. This is about your exact requirements, as these vary greatly from firm to firm. Are in-person meetings important to you or are you happy with remote? Do you prefer a more personal approach from a smaller business, or would you prefer the resources available from a larger firm?
  2. Do you have any complexities (DB permissions, DFM status) that require specialist support?
  3. Do you need T&C support in addition, or does that work in-house?
  4. Do you have a preference for tech to support your compliance or would you rather leave it to a human? Do you need technical support in addition, or is it predominantly regulatory support?
  5. Are events and CPD something you expect from your compliance, or do you access this elsewhere?
  6. What are your needs regarding file checks? Do you require pre-sale and do the turnaround times match your requirements?

When you’re clear on the type of support you need, you can begin speaking to providers to find the one most suitable to your requirements. Be sure to find out:

  1. What the total costs are, not just the headline costs. In-person visits, file checks, regulatory returns etc. are all factors that may incur an additional cost.
  2. Future increases to those fees.
  3. How long you are tied in for and, what the notice period is on ending a contract.
  4. The future plans of the provider; will they continue to match your own requirements?
  5. Any other ancillary services they offer and how they might provide overarching support to your business.

As a note, many compliance providers will offer transactional support, to help you with your immediate needs (for example urgent file checks or 121’s), while you spend a bit of time doing due diligence on the available options before selecting a more permanent home. Be sure to ask what they can do to help you get a bit of breathing space at this point.

We hope this page provides some help to firms and will look to keep adding to it. Drop us a line if we can help in any way, 01325 952116 or hello@weareverve.co.uk
