Cathi and Amy proudly finishing the hike

Hey there! We have an exciting story to share with you today about two incredible members of our team who recently embarked on a challenging adventure for a wonderful cause. Cathi, our CEO, and Amy, our amazing Executive Assistant, took part in the Lake District Mighty Hike Half Marathon on June 18th, all in the name of raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

You may already know that Macmillan Cancer Support holds a special place in our hearts here at The Verve Group. At the beginning of the year, we held a team vote to choose our annual charity, and Macmillan Cancer Support won by a landslide. This means that all the money we raise through various charity events throughout the year will go towards supporting this fantastic organisation.

Let’s dive into the details of the event itself. The Mighty Hike took place amidst the breath-taking beauty of the Lake District, with the route running alongside the stunning Ullswater. This challenging half marathon involved conquering hills and reaching an impressive altitude of 1709ft, ending in the picturesque village of Glenridding.

Cathi and Amy set themselves a fundraising goal of £500, and they were determined to make it happen. But thanks to the incredible support and generosity of our friends, families, and colleagues, they managed to surpass their target and raise a whopping £1200! Which is just incredible!

Amy shared with us her personal connection to Macmillan Cancer Support. She has been directly supported by Macmillan nurses multiple times in her life, particularly during the most difficult period when she was caring for her late parents during their palliative care. She emphasised that Macmillan not only supports those who are diagnosed with cancer but also provides much-needed assistance to their families. Amy’s goal was to raise funds to support those who may need Macmillan’s help in the future.

Cathi also expressed her delight at participating in the Mighty Hike alongside Amy. She recognised the immense importance of Macmillan as a charity and was proud that, through their fundraising efforts, they contributed to the mammoth £700k raised over the weekend.

The atmosphere on the day of the Mighty Hike was simply electric. Cathi and Amy soaked up the positive vibes and felt lucky to have gorgeous weather as their companion. The blisters they endured during the hike were a small price to pay for such a significant achievement – when it comes to supporting a cause as worthy as Macmillan Cancer Support, those blisters become badges of honour.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who sponsored Cathi and Amy on their Mighty Hike. Your support means the world to us and to all those whose lives are touched by Macmillan. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. Your kindness and generosity are truly appreciated.

As we continue our fundraising efforts throughout the year, we are determined to keep supporting Macmillan Cancer Support in its incredible mission. We hope to make an even greater impact on the lives of individuals and families affected by cancer.

Thank you for joining us on this journey, and stay tuned for more exciting updates on our ongoing efforts to support Macmillan Cancer Support.
